PROJECTS
Here are a few hobby and academic projects I took up during my schooling and Bachelor's.
Bachelor's final year project: Charlie, a social robot
Sept 2017 - March 2018
Charlie was built to interact with people, maintain eye-contact, remember faces, engage in verbal conversations using a chat-bot API, and demonstrate simple gestures like handshakes.
Animatronic eyes
Nov 2018
Pair of eyes designed to move as realistic as possible
Mini humanoid - Ginger
Jan 2016 - June 2016
A 1 foot robot, built to understand robot manipulation/ hand-eye coordination. the goal was to develop an algorithm that would allow it to reach and grab an object with a single camera accompanied by ultrasonic and infrared depth sensors. Ginger's parts were designed in AutoCAD and 3D printed.
Robotic puppy
Jan 2012- Feb 2012
I wasn't allowed to bring home a puppy, so I made one. I didn't own a 3D printer back then, so the mechanical components here is part of a kit. This was one of many projects when I was in 11th and 12th grade. At this point, I had just started learning basic electronics.
Bipedal Robot
March 2012- June 2012
This robot follows an elliptical foot trajectory. High school math, particularly trigonometry helped me figure out the inverse kinematics that lets this robot walk while continuously shifting its center of gravity, also in a fixed trajectory.
CERES
April 2016- May 2016
This was an entry for the Global hackathon "Space Apps Challenge" by NASA. This prototype was built in 2 days. CERES is a life support system of sorts for plants, that controls vital environmental variables.
Home Automation
Jan 2015- April 2015
The system keeps count of number of people walking into and out of rooms around the house to control lighting. Comes with an Android app that allowed control of the lights through the home wifi network.
Persistence of vision(POV) display
Jan 2014- Feb 2014
A spinning column of LEDs programmed to switch at precise intervals to produce text.
